Personality: Jeremiah has always taken great pride in himself and his abilities. As a pureblooded Britannian noble and an elite Knightmare pilot, most would agree that he had good reason to. Yet even when he had a high and respected position, he seemed to have an almost constant need to validate his supposedly superior status and keep himself in the public eye. He would pawn off what he viewed as inferior enemies on his subordinates so he could show off on the frontlines in battle; as a member of the Purist faction, he sought to purify the Britannian military by expelling all non-Britannians from its ranks, and would frame Numbers to paint them as traitors to further his purposes. Everyone had to know how good his fighting skills were, and the Numbers had to stay separated from the Britannians to keep them from gradually becoming equals, because if he didn't have this superiority in blood and skill, then he would be worthless -- a constantly looming fear due to his failure years before to protect Marianne from being assassinated.

When Zero uses his Geass on Jeremiah to make him free Suzaku, he is viewed as a traitor to the empire and falls into disgrace, all his fears coming true. Now known to all the world as an incompetent, treasonous laughingstock, he wants nothing more than to exact revenge on Zero to take back his good name, but the longer this goal eludes him, the closer he comes to falling into madness.

His intentions aren't always entirely selfish; he feels guilty about his continued failure to protect the royal family and wants to redeem himself for their sake as well as his own, and he genuinely cares for Villetta Nu and wants to help her succeed in moving up the ranks in Britannian nobility. However, the fact that he actually does have a heart tends to go unnoticed most of the time.
